Outline / TLDR: The idea that “there’s nothing new under the sun” often limits creativity, but artists like Twenty One Pilots, Paramore, SZA, and Thom Yorke show how recurring themes, like navigating adulthood, can still be uniquely expressed. Each artist brings their own voice to similar experiences, proving that repetition in art can offer fresh perspectives. In today’s market, where competition with artificial intelligence is growing, authenticity remains key, and the beauty of repetition lies in how each artist interprets universal themes differently.

Part 1:
Many chose to fall under a choice of belief where they limit themselves to an idea of a life where “There's nothing new under the sun” and “everything has already been done before”. In 2015, an alternative rock / hiphop band by the name of twenty one pilots released a reggae psychedelic indie-pop song called stressed out off their Blurryface album. The song stressed out highlights the bitter and rather tumultuous feelings of an adolescent young adult navigating the real world with wafts of nostalgia.

As I'm typing this entry I'm finding parallels to what I deem as a popular opinion and the overall tone of Stressed Out by twenty one pilots. From my own lived personal experiences and from the mouths of many carrying contrary opinions towards my own, many times it feels as if the entire world is trying to make the general public believe that once again, “there's nothing new under the sun” or “everythings been done before”. In my opinion I believe thought processes like these are what not only keep society stagnant but also hinder artists from trying and experimenting with new ideas.

Stressed out by twenty one pilots. Ain't it fun by paramore. 20 something by sza. Black Swan by Thom yorke. All four of these contrasting songs share a similar theme, navigating life in your 20’s. A trope that has been beaten to a pulp by writers for centuries around the world because, … quite honestly, every writer thinks they're the only one capable of turning their experiences into a higher art form. And that's because they are.

In this day and age we find today's artists battling with their consumers in the market competing with Artificial Intelligence. And even as a music artist, voice actor and digital content creator I find myself whisping and sifting through and around the market to release and in search of true and authentic content.

The human experience cannot be replicated because each human experience comes out differently. That's why we have four songs describing the same time period that all humans go through, with the same thoughts that all humans have during this time period of their lives, but each of them can be done and executed differently. That is the true art of repetition.
